Is gutter protection right for your home?
Leaves, pine needles, cottonwood and roof debris can collect in gutters and around outlets. Micro-mesh protection helps keep debris out of the gutter channel while allowing water through. Whether it is suitable depends on your existing gutters, roof edge, drainage and the proposed product.
During your estimate, point out recurring overflow, visible leaks, difficult access and areas that need frequent cleaning. Guards should not be treated as a repair for damaged gutters or an unresolved drainage problem.
What installation involves
1. Inspect & measure
We review the existing gutters, roofline, downspouts and access, then measure the areas included in your estimate.
2. Clean & prepare
Gutter cleaning is included with guard installation. Existing debris is removed and the system is prepared. Any necessary repairs or scope changes should be identified separately in writing.
3. Install & check
Guards are secured to suit the roof and gutter configuration. Drainage is reviewed and the work area is cleaned.
Know what your written estimate includes
- Coverage: which gutter runs are included and their measured length.
- Preparation: cleaning, removal of old guards and any separately identified repairs.
- Installation: the proposed protection and how it fits your roof and existing gutters.
- Final price: the total for the agreed scope, with any applicable offer clearly shown.
- Aftercare: maintenance guidance, written warranty terms and how to request service.
Use our gutter guard cost guide to compare proposals on the same scope.

Prepare for your gutter guard estimate
Make a short list of the gutter runs you want assessed and the problems you have noticed. Include any old covers, recurring overflow, visible leaks or hard-to-reach sections. Ground-level photos are useful when the issue is intermittent.
- Describe access: mention gates, pets, landscaping or other obstacles the estimator should know about.
- Explain prior work: share any available product or roof information and identify areas repaired or replaced previously.
- Set the scope: say whether you want selected runs assessed or protection considered for the whole house.
- Ask for the next steps: confirm what the written proposal will include and how scheduling works if you choose to proceed.
Keep the estimate appointment and the installation appointment separate in your plans. Share your ZIP through our quote form so we can confirm service availability before discussing a visit.
Plan for care after installation
Gutter guards reduce debris entering the gutter channel; they do not make the roofline maintenance-free. Leaves or needles can collect on the surface, and outlets and existing drainage still need periodic checks. Ask for care instructions for the actual product identified in your written estimate.
From the ground, note persistent overflow, visible leaks, loose sections or new debris buildup. Do not climb onto the roof to document a concern. For an existing Colorado Gutter Guard installation, call 720-613-5696 and describe the affected area so the appropriate next step can be discussed.
Does our lifetime warranty cover materials and labor?
Yes. Colorado Gutter Guard provides a lifetime warranty on both the materials and labor for our micro-mesh gutter guard installation. Normal wear and tear is covered. Gutter replacement is excluded.
| Warranty item | Coverage |
|---|---|
| Gutter guard materials | Lifetime coverage. |
| Installation labor | Lifetime coverage. |
| Normal wear and tear | Covered. |
| Gutter replacement | Not covered by the gutter guard warranty. |
Request the written warranty with your estimate and keep it with your project scope and product information. To discuss an existing installation, contact Colorado Gutter Guard with your installation date and a description of the concern. Ground-level photos can help explain an intermittent issue.
When repairs should be discussed before guards
Tell the estimator about recurring leaks, sagging sections, loose attachment, damaged roof-edge material or overflow that continues after cleaning. Ask which issues need separate assessment or repair before protection is installed, and have included and excluded work listed in the proposal.
A guard quote should identify the actual product and the attachment method proposed for your home. A product illustration is not an installation instruction. Roof repairs, gutter replacement and changes to downstream drainage should not be assumed included unless your written scope says so.

Questions homeowners ask
Can guards go on my existing gutters?
They can be an option when the existing system is suitable. Gutter condition, attachment, outlets, drainage and roof compatibility should be assessed first. Full gutter replacement is not automatically necessary.
Will the rear edge go under my shingles?
Some configurations use that detail, but it is not a universal installation method. The recommendation must suit the actual guard product, roof covering and applicable installation instructions.
Does an estimate commit me to installation?
No. Colorado Gutter Guard offers a free, no-obligation estimate. Review the written scope and price before deciding. An estimate appointment is separate from an installation date.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Colorado Gutter Guard provides lifetime coverage for gutter guard materials and installation labor, including normal wear and tear. Gutter replacement is excluded. Request the written warranty with your estimate.
Can guards fix ice dams or foundation drainage?
Do not rely on gutter guards as a cure for those problems. They manage gutter debris; recurring ice, water entry or drainage problems may need a separate assessment.
